Strictly Come Dancing
Britain’s most popular dancing show is back and there will undoubtedly be a new atmosphere around the show with Len Goodman no longer judging. We also expect some heartfelt recognition of Sir Bruce too.
Despite going into its umpteenth version it is still popular and has attracted a great lineup of celebs this year. We see opportunity everywhere and reality TV is no different. Here are our tips for Strictly 2017.
Aston Merrygold is the standout contender with his youthful physicality and background dancing for JLS. It doesn’t get bigger than 3/1 for Aston at Betfair. He will be able to add some exciting moves from his boyband days but it is yet to be seen whether it will excite the older viewers.
Mollie King of Saturday’s fame has a similar background to Merrygold and her dancing experience has put her at 9/1. Elsewhere are the troop of soap opera stars, Eastender’s Davood Ghadami and Holby’s Joe McFadden are up in the bookie’s minds. It seems like it will be another man to win this year, unless Mollie King becomes the queen!
Another year and another NFL season of bruising hits and epic faceoffs. It is always difficult to predict American sports before a season as no one knows which trades have come off and who picked the best of the bunch in the draft.
It is safe to say that once again the New England Patriots are one of the favourites yet again. Bets are interesting not just for them to raise the Super Bowl but also to repeat the feat of the 2007 team and finish with an unbeaten record. You shouldn’t be too quick to dive into your wallet though as Rob Ninkovich unexpectedly retired and they have some key injuries to Julian Edleman and Derek Rivers. Patriots are 30/1 to go unbeaten in the regular season and 50/1 to take that run all the way to the Super Bowl victory.
Among the others looking to knock Tom Brady off his high perch is Seattle Seahawks with their talisman Russell Wilson and crazed fans! They are at 10/1 and Ben Roethlisberger’s Steelers at 11/1. Our tip though and a good story is the Minnesota Vikings who host the Super Bowl this year. It would be the first time a team would have a Super Bowl match and currently they sit at 25/1 to make history.
West Indies vs England
The test series in England has gone into its 3rd match with everything to play for thank to a surprise victory for West Indies. It remains to be seen whether we have seen a flash in the pan from the visitors or they are setting a springboard for the future.
Joe Root will be looking to the likes of Moeen Ali to show the tourists why they are still the minnows. He himself needs to get the bat firing as that is where they suffered at Headingley.
West Indies, on the other hand, will come into the game buoyed by their performance. Shai Hope was the standout player and he could be another high scorer at Lords. Ladbrokes still have the side at 8/1 to win the third test and the series overall. It is certainly a big ask and would be huge news but England showed that they are not the finished article either in the second game.
I think the weather may play a factor in the game and with time constraints and a confident West Indies side we may just be all out of entertainment. A draw at 9/2 is the most likely outcome.
