Rugby league World Cup Final
On Saturday 2nd December England face Australia in the Rugby League World Cup Final. It will not only be a final game of the tournament but also the final rugby league match for Australia’s Billy Slater. Often touted as the greatest fullback in the sport’s 109-year history, it will be a sad occasion when he will no longer grace our screens. It is also a chance for Slater to redeem himself after his mistake in 2008 final led to New Zealand scoring the winning try.
England has had a successful tournament and they would have been preparing for this fixture from the start. Their only issue is with injuries. While they have Chris Heighington back they will be missing Josh Hodgson who has been ruled out.
Australia are hot favourites with England’s best odds at Unibet at 7/1. Dane Gagai is the favourite to score first and bookmakers will offer odds of 7/1 for this too.
You can watch the Rugby League final on Saturday the 2nd December on BBC One.
Snooker UK Championship
The UK Championship is yet another big money offering in modern snooker. It takes place at the Barbican Centre and all eyes will be on Mark Selby this year. The Jester from Leicester decided to take time off over the Northern Ireland Open last week and will no doubt come to the UK championship afresh. He is a two-time former winner in 2012 and 2016. He is 9/2 with Bwin.
His obvious stumbling block comes in the form of Ronnie O’Sullivan who will hopefully be wearing the right shoes this week. The Rocket is head and shoulders above everyone else at the moment and as most tournaments in Snooker star these days whichever Ronnie decides to show up will probably decide the winner.
The UK Championship is the best of 11 which is a difference from the last few tournaments best of 7. This creates more upsets in the shorter format but with 11 usually, the cream will rise to the top. Ronnie O’Sullivan is at 4/1 with Bwin.
Washington Redskins v Dallas Cowboys
These two NFC East rivals meet on Wednesday night in a showdown which will excite those American Football fans among you. Both teams are 5-6 for the season.
Dallas Cowboys are entering the matchup as underdogs after coming off another stinging loss last week. The 6-28 home defeat for the Cowboys hurt their pride and shows just how much further the franchise needs to come before it is truly competing again.
Washington comes into the game after a 20-10 win at home to the Giants. It may only be their first win in the last six but it was a dominant performance that will give the side confidence coming into this one. It could be the spark needed for the Redskins to go on a big winning streak. They are meeting Dallas Cowboys just at the right time if this is the case.
Bookies like William Hill have the Cowboys as favourites just at 4/5 but for us it is the Redskins in the ascendancy but at 21/20 it will take a big stake and bigger cajones to make it.
